Definition
A polygon is a closed flat shape with three or more straight sides. Triangles, rectangles, and hexagons are all examples of polygons.
Polygons are like closed fences made of straight boards. Each board is a side, and where two boards meet is a vertex. Circles are not polygons because they have curved sides.
Examples
- A triangle is a 3-sided polygon.
- A pentagon has 5 sides.
- A hexagon has 6 sides.
