Perpendicular Lines

Definition

Perpendicular lines are two lines that meet at a right angle (90 degrees), forming a square corner where they cross.

If two streets cross and form perfect square corners at the intersection, the streets are perpendicular to each other.

Examples

  • The corner of a piece of paper shows perpendicular lines.
  • The letter T has perpendicular lines.
  • A plus sign (+) is made of two perpendicular lines.
