Obtuse Angle

Definition

An obtuse angle is an angle that measures more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees. It is wider and more open than a right angle.

An obtuse angle opens wider than a square corner. If you lean back in a chair past the upright position, the angle between the back and the seat becomes obtuse.

Examples

  • A 120-degree angle is obtuse.
  • A 150-degree angle is obtuse.
  • A reclining chair can form an obtuse angle.
