Mode

Grades 4–5

Definition

The mode is the number that appears most often in a set of data. A data set can have one mode, more than one mode, or no mode at all.

Examples

  • In the set 2, 3, 3, 5, 7, the mode is 3.
  • In the set 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, there are two modes: 1 and 2.
  • In the set 4, 5, 6, 7, there is no mode because no number repeats.
