Definition
The minuend is the first number in a subtraction problem. It is the number you start with before taking something away.
Examples
- In 9 - 4 = 5, the minuend is 9.
- In 100 - 37 = 63, the minuend is 100.
- The minuend is always the largest number in a basic subtraction problem.
