Line Graph

Grades 3–5

Definition

A line graph uses points connected by lines to show how data changes over time. It is great for showing trends and patterns.

Imagine plotting dots for the temperature at each hour and then connecting them. The line going up means it is getting warmer, and going down means it is getting cooler.

Examples

  • A line graph showing temperature changes during the day.
  • A line graph tracking plant growth over 4 weeks.
  • Points on the graph are connected with straight lines.
