Definition
A factor is a number that you multiply with another number to get a product. Factors divide evenly into a number with no remainder.
Factors are numbers that fit perfectly into another number. If you can split 12 candies into groups of 3 with none left over, then 3 is a factor of 12.
Examples
- In 3 x 4 = 12, the factors are 3 and 4.
- The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12.
