Definition
Equivalent fractions are different fractions that represent the same value. You can create them by multiplying or dividing both the numerator and denominator by the same number.
Cutting a pizza into 4 slices and taking 2 gives you the same amount as cutting it into 2 slices and taking 1. Both equal half the pizza.
Examples
- 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6 (all the same amount).
- 2/3 = 4/6 = 6/9.
- 3/5 = 6/10.
