Capacity

Definition

Capacity is the amount of liquid a container can hold. It is measured in units like liters, milliliters, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons.

Capacity is how much a container can be filled. A big bucket has a larger capacity than a small cup because it can hold more liquid.

Examples

  • A large water bottle holds about 1 liter.
  • A bathtub can hold about 150 liters.
  • 1 gallon = 4 quarts.
